Join Us in the Fight Against Diabetes

At OBS Pharmacy, we believe that community health starts with awareness, education, and support. That’s why we’re proud to stand with our patients and community in the fight against diabetes, a chronic condition that affects millions but is often preventable and manageable with the right tools and knowledge.

Whether you’re living with diabetes, at risk, or supporting a loved one, we’re here to help you take control of your health, one step at a time.

Why the Fight Against Diabetes Matters

Diabetes is one of the fastest-growing health challenges globally. In fact:

  • Over 1 in 10 adults live with diabetes
  • Many people with prediabetes don’t even know they have it
  • Early detection and lifestyle changes can delay or prevent type 2 diabetes

The good news? With the right education and support, diabetes is a fight we can win, together.

Understanding Juvenile Diabetes

Juvenile diabetes, also known as Type 1 diabetes, is an autoimmune condition most often diagnosed in children, teens, and young adults. Unlike type 2 diabetes, it is not linked to lifestyle or diet, it occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.

Early signs of Type 1 diabetes include:

  •  Frequent urination
  •  Excessive thirst
  • Sudden weight loss
  • Fatigue or mood changes

There is currently no known way to prevent Type 1 diabetes, but with the right management, insulin therapy, blood sugar monitoring, and support, children and young adults can live full, active lives.

At OBS Pharmacy, we offer educational resources for parents and caregivers to help them understand and manage juvenile diabetes, and we’re always here to answer questions or help connect families with additional care.
